Lucky7 Hold’em™
Lucky7 Hold’em is a poker chip game based on positive (and negative) golf shots. It is designed to be played with 2-4 players, and can be played as individuals or teams. The object of the game is to accumulate positive chips and avoid negative chips.
Play starts on the first tee with all of the chips “out of play”. On the first tee, the group decides the value of each chip (typically $1-$5). When a golfer makes a shot or score that corresponds to a certain chip, he or she is awarded that chip, and retains possession of it until a fellow competitor earns the chip by making a similar play.
Multiple chips can be won on a single shot; for example, if a player holes out from a greenside bunker for birdie, he or she would gain possession of the sand save chip, chip in chip, and birdie chip. Conversely, if a player duck hooks a drive that bounces off a tree and out of bounds, he or she is awarded both the tree chip and the OB chip (and likely the double or triple bogey chip by the time the hole is finished!).
The chips are “cashed in” after the 9th and 18th hole. Players with positive chips get paid the chip value from every other player (thus a $1 positive chip in a foursome of individuals is worth $1+$1+$1=$3 to the person holding it). Players with negative chips must pay the chip value to every other player (a $1 negative chip in the same situation costs the person holding it $1+$1+$1=$3).
